Message from Rec Director
Message from our Rec Director:
Thank you for choosing FC Tucson Youth Soccer Club. Our Recreational Soccer Program seeks to provide children from all over Tucson an opportunity to discover and grow a love of soccer. Our program caters to entry-level players as well as players with previous experience. We encourage participation from players who simply enjoy playing soccer with their friends, and those who have the ambition to one day play in our Pre-Academy and/or Competitive programs. Holistic development is the goal with soccer being the underlying framework. Providing a fun, safe, and healthy learning environment where all children have the chance for achievement, FCTYS Recreational Soccer will nurture soccer skills as well as other physical, mental, and emotional aspects of our children. Parent-coaches, supported by our professional staff, are a vital component to our program and have a direct impact on the success of our players. We believe in the development of our entire soccer community in the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play, whether you are a player, a volunteer coach, aspiring referee, or spectator.

*ROSTERING PROCESS* (Update 10/13/20)
Rosters for all age groups are currently being built. Once a roster is finalized (with minimum number of players and at least one coach) the coach will be contacted. THE COACH will reach out to all families with details on practice schedule, games, and other team information. Practice is scheduled to begin the week of 10/25 (subject to change based on local conditions at parks). Our first game day remains scheduled for 11/7. FCTYS reserves the right to close registration at any time once the number of registrants reaches capacity, with regard to space restrictions and guidelines at our play fields. Thank you for understanding.
*STATUS OF FALL REC* (Update 9/13/20)
Registration remains open. And the process for organizing teams in each age group is underway. How those teams will be finalized will depend on the numbers we get for each division, along with the number of volunteer coaches we have. The program is still monitoring current local guidelines and protocols regarding COVID19 and how they might affect the season in the weeks to come. FC Tucson has its own internal protocols related to face-coverings, distancing, and training procedures. Currently they apply to our “competitive” teams that have begun practicing. We continue to discuss how those protocols will be the same or differ in some manner within our Recreational Program. The situation is fluid and I appreciate your patience as the preparations for our Fall season continue with the best interest of the players, families, and staff in mind. If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at the address below.
*COVID19 PLAN OF ACTION*
(Update: 8/10/20)
Our Recreational Program, from September to May, is home to almost 1,000 players and their families. As such, we are committed to offering our next season when we can be most sure that our playing environment will be safe within our unique public health situation. We also want to offer the family-friendly experience that you have come to appreciate. Parent involvement, as coaches and spectators, is a vital element of our program. However, current AZ Soccer Association guidelines and local protocols are restricting the presence of families on the sidelines. As a result, the decision has been made to push back the start of our “Fall” season to November, and have it run through December. Our hope is that in the interim, COVID19 trends will improve and we will be given the green light to take to the fields in our normal format. When we do resume, increased hygiene measures will be introduced to help ensure that we can STAY PLAYING at our various locations. As Director, I want to be patient and prudent in what is a fluid situation so that our players can continue to have fun, develop their skills, and be HEALTHY and SAFE! As always, thank you for your patience and support as we work together to overcome these challenges in our community.
